20 years of Jeff Buckley’s “Grace”. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACE!
                                                            (August 23, 1994 - 2014 -
∞)

"Jeff’s record deal was structured on the basis of a solo artist, but he didn’t want to be seen as some kind of folk hero. He wanted to subvert expectations. His influences were often great bands, and he had a real passion for the complexity and breath that’s commonly associated with collaboration. (…) He seemed to be deliberately lacking in the cliched mode of progression; he was trying things that were asymmetrical and unique (…) Jeff wanted (…) to form a unique sound." - Matt Johnson.

"David Bowie was quoted, calling "Grace one of the 10 albums he’d bring to a desert island." - BIll Flanagan.

“Grace had that intangible ability to create an enviroment you can only reach when you listen to it (…)” Chris Cornell.

"Technically he was the best singer that appeared, that had appeared, probably, I’m not being too liberal about this if I say in two decades. I started to play Grace constantly, constantly and the more, the more I listened to the album, the more, the more I heard — the more I appreciated of Jeff and Jeff’s talents and Jeff’s total ability to which he was just a wizard and it was close to being my favorite album of the decade. We actually made a point of going to hear him play and seeing and it was absolutely scary. One of the things is a little frightening was that I was convinced that he probably did things in tunings and he didn’t. He was doing things in standard tuning. I thought, oh gee he really is clever isn’t he ? He quite clearly had his feet on the ground and he said his imagination was flying, flying way, way out there, beyond, beyond. Jeff Buckley was one of the greatest losses of all." Jimmy Page.

The record he has left is very emotional, very beautiful. An intriguing work, challenging. Using only his voice, he reaches regions (of) unimaginable feeling.” Jeff Beck.

"Grace is a fine time capsule of Buckley’s tremendous singing ability, but beyond that, it’s a portrait of a well-rounded artist brimming with inspiration (…). The one album he did leave us is still good enough to elicit chills two decades later. It remains a vast personal universe to be explored. There’s nothing else quite like it — so real, so raw, so gorgeous." - Chris DeVille.

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the release of Jeff Buckley’s album “Grace” I offer in a charity sale my copy of this wonderful LP.  This is an original 1994 vinyl pressing with a sleeve that was autographed and illustrated for me by Jeff Buckley, Matt Johnson, Michael Tighe and Mick Grøndahl after their concert at Manchester University on 3rd Sept 1994.
The original vinyl LP is extremely rare.  Jeff Buckley’s autograph is rarer still.  I have never seen any other memorabilia that has been autographed by the whole band.
Jeff Buckley’s illustration on the album sleeve transforms what is an incredibly rare item of memorabilia into a fascinating document of his ideas and his work.  Themes that he would return to when talking about this album and his artistic preoccupations are crystallised in his drawing.  Jeff Buckley is pictured at work, mindful of Death, Love and Music

The sale comprises
1.  The autographed and illustrated LP complete with original vinyl record, original inner sleeve, and original outer sleeve, all in “Very Good Plus” condition 2.  The original LP sales receipt, dated 30th August 1994

Matt Johnson talking about what was it like to record “Grace” on its 20th anniversary…

The way he talks about Jeff is touching, specially in the end.

So at Rocking Horse Records, I came across what I thought to be a graffitied image of Jeff Buckley. Only to realise it was graffitied and signed by Jeff Buckley himself.
